Trending Recruitment Sites in Sri Lanka
Jobs set up an essential tone in
our lives in shaping up our lifestyles. Which is because one thing we need to achieve
our hierarchy of needs is a handful of a salary. Our every dream, fantasy,
objective depends on how much we earn at the month end. Whether we want to
switch from public transport to our personal car, or from our rented annex to our
own house. With the increasing expenditure and the need to spend more when marketers are targeting our six senses when we enter a supermarket, makes us in need of a heavy
wallet. The fact that the average expenses always over scales our average income in Sri Lanka, has made our
emigration levels high in the country. Fortunately, with the country moving towards
a high literacy level with the quality of education and the utilization of technology, Sri Lankans are keen about educating themselves with the right education so as to search and apply on the best fitting job posts with the help of our trending recruitment sites in the country.
Identifying the requirements of
the job market in Sri Lanka and the modern day & conventional recruitment criteria,
we can see some designated job hunting sites. Such as-
- Topjobs
- Xpress Jobs
- Owl
- Rakiya
- Ikman jobs
Being topjobs still the most renown
website for job recruitment in the county yet it is challenged by Xpress Jobs
and LinkedIn currently in the context of easy hunting, site interface and the
user assistance. However, with its presence in the market from the start,
topjobs is still the leading site.
With how digital is driving the
mobile behavior and how micro moments is rapidly changing the consumer search
patterns, mobile devices and apps are playing a huge role in our day to day
lives. Sites like Linkedin and Xpress are catching up on this side with topjobs.
Linekdin app is the most trending social media platform for professionals who
are in the seek of career development and corporate networking.
On the contrary, ikman is hitting
on the market with blue collar job postings and geographical based employment opportunities.
Since ikman has gained market awareness massively with its adverts on automobiles,
electronics and real estate, people are moving towards mobile away from
conventional newspapers. “Ikman Jobs” is catering the service in whole different
level (a different market segment).
Further to all this, some outsourcing
companies in Sri Lanka, have affiliated with site like Owl and Rakiya for top
up ads, and ads at special rates.
Highlighting on Linkedin again,
currently jobs on Linkedin is posted in the proximity of Colombo only with the
low awareness. Yet it is catching up rapidly with its mobile app, social media
platform and the Linkedin Recruiter & Lookup apps. More significantly Linkedin
users can match their skills, experiences and educational background to the
available job opportunities which are posted on Linkedin and apply on the
platform itself by directing to the employer site or through Linkedin itself
via “Easy Apply”.
Innovative platforms such as
Linkedin is competing and revolutionizing on a global scale. Yet local sites
such as Owl, Rakiya, Xpress are designed for the Sri Lankan market, locals
tendency to search on those sites are high with the publicity given on TV,
Radio and press ads.

Online job portals have only made it possible for employers to hire and job seekers to search for jobs in short time span. Due to the internet penetration ever skyrocketing and need of professional mobility, this medium is definitely here to stay.
